Detecting VM FailuresĬloudStack HA continuously detects VM status changes on the hypervisor host to detect VMs that have failed on the hypervisor host. CloudStack HA provides detection in both of these cases. VMs that generally failed due to the VM failure or hypervisor host failure can generally be safely restarted elsewhere. System administrators can manually intervene when Restart is unable to safely restart a VM. Restart is the actual process to restart the failed VMs. Detection deals with different ways to detect the possibilities of VM and hypervisor host failure.

HA PhasesĬloudStack HA contains three different phases: Detection, Restart, and Manual Intervention. The MTTR (mean time to recovery) for VM in CloudStack HA depends on the selection of technology. In conditions where CloudStack HA cannot safely restart a VM, it asks the administrator to be the arbitrator of whether it is safe to restart a VM.ĬloudStack HA is designed to work with multiple technologies. Typically, a guard consists of a series of bars or pipes installed flush with the road surface and placed onto a supporting framework.
